DALLAS GETS IT

Thanks to everyone who came out to SMU to see the film

It was a real treat to meet some of the women we’ve been writing to over the last few months trying to get the film to Texas. And a special treat for me, Kerthy, to show the film to my Dad and his wife Marylee. They brought along their neighbor Peter who teaches gifted and talented high schoolers as well as my Dad’s childhood neighbor Peggy Martin who retired from the Dallas public school system as an art teacher of 30 years.

Let me also give out a special thanks to Michele Houston of SMU’s Journalism Department (Everyone write to Michele to let the Dean know you appreciate this kind of programming! – mhouston@mail.smu.edu) and to Alyssa Gardina at the Women’s Museum of Dallas, both of whom, did all the heavy lifting of putting the event together.

And thanks to Nino for sending some pics of the event over to us. Read her lovely blog here.

Let your friends in Houston know that we’re showing the film on May 9th at the MFA at 7pm too.      MFA Houston Film Schedule

The film is an excellent chronological history of women in art! All of the women artist’s stories were exceptional!

I had no idea about the low percentages of women artists
in national galleries. In the Dallas area, I’ve seen a good deal of women artists’ work in local galleries. I hope this is a positive trend for other cities. Do you know if that is true, or not?

Thank you for such a positive call for more women artists!
I look forward to the sale of the DVD!
